Meeting One Recap
The Clintonville Area Commission held our first Community Conversation on Homelessness (and related topics) October 12th at Whetstone Library, featuring a presentation from Community Shelter Board, the collective impact agency leading Central Ohio’s homelessness response. After the presentation, we held a robust Q&A about root causes of homelessness, how to address panhandling, and what neighbors can do to support one another in safe and impactful ways.
In follow-up to our conversation, Sara Loken from the CSB team shared a few resources:
Columbus Coalition for the Homeless Street Card - this piece has all the up-to-date contact information for service providers that can help neighbors in crisis
Virtual Maskquerade Event 11/5 - info on CSB’s upcoming virtual fundraising event, which features gourmet treats hand-delivered to your door
Once CSB has a date for their point-in-time count - a census of folks who are street homeless and / or in shelter on a given day that is used for determining funding in federal funding formulas - I’ll share that date for those who were interested in volunteering!
